About Us

Based on a core group of like minded music lovers, Access Music believes that all music and artistic expression with integrity is good music.

We will promote any talent, from musicians, to radio DJ's we may well be the ultimate wannabes. :)

You What?

Access Music is a cover all brand that we intend to make synonymous with unsigned musical talent in the West Lancashire area.  It is our aim to help startup and unsigned musicians gain recognition for the work they put in.  But our vision is actually greater than that.  We hope to help people that want into the creative arts industries in general.  We are looking at many different spheres where by peoples work can be seen and recognised.  Hence all of the different logos dotted around this article to give identity to the different areas so that people can get involved with the creative process even if they are not musicians. 

Perhaps a little breakdown of Access Music will aid digestion at this point.  We intend to setup several non-profit business areas that exist to aid one another and allow those that want to be part of creating a product.  We are not an employer and at this time we are not a charity (thought that may well change) we are a collective of people that realise that in helping one another we can help ourselves, in a sort of back scratching realtionship.  We are also not political as a group just at pains to point out that we are not a communist conspiracy, we are a self help organisation the people who want to be, can be involved in.

So what are the parts both current and dreamed of…

(AMM) Deals with the management of bands and solo artistes.  AMM exists to help musicians that show dedication and are hard working to achieve their dreams.  We essentially promote our roster of musicians to gain them exposure to the industry through gigging, recording, photo shoot and video, internet and radio.  We get out there and push the musician on others to help make dreams come true.  We are no “’Colonel’ Tom Parker” or “Brian Epstein” we are here to aid the talent through to their goal.

(AML) Deals with setting up, gigs, concerts and reviews to give musicians a platform to play and hone their skills.  A great musician with no outlet is a musician that is not heard, a great musician with no stage skills is boring to watch and so will not be listened to, being a great musician is only the start.  AML set up, promote, execute and tidy up after gigs.  We work with venues all over the Fylde coast to find places to play.  We also work with venues to get them known and in demand with the local artists.

(AMR) Deals with the recording of the musicians, Want to lay down a track for the internet?  Want to do an EP for promotion?  Are you ready to record an album?  AMR are for you a small community based recording set up to allow local musicians to get their opus down.  If you are serious about your music and getting it out there you need that recording.  AMR also can record live sets at AML gigs.

(AMBr pronounced Amber) AMBr will be an internet radio station aimed at getting inexperienced DJ’s an opportunity to have a go, local bands heard on a wider platform and business cheap advertising (very cheap).   Initially scheduling will be just for evening and night during the week.  We will be looking for bands that want to be heard to donate tracks and concert recordings on a royalty free basis; they will of course maintain ownership of their own work.  As time goes on it is hoped that AMBr will become more of a commercial concern mixing our unsigned content with work by more established acts so as to increase the size of audiences and create a more direct influence on the music industry at least locally. :)

(AMU) is known currently as “friends” is a section of this website where local bands can show their wares as it were.  Like MySpace and Facebook but more limited, it is a section that can be used by local music fans to check out bands and also promoters and venues.  It is another face to your public but very localized so that it is a useful tool to those that want to put you on their stage.  Go and have a quick look.  There may not be a section that matches your style, don’t worry we will add sections as they are needed.

(AMD)Outside of the music itself there are many creative areas used in the music industry.  Photography covering live gig and staged shoots; cover and marketing design, copy writing, graphic art and journalism skills such as reviewing and press release writing.  This website you are currently reading also comes under the AMD banner.

(AMW) soon to come on the website this section deals with some of the good and difficult areas of the set up process.  Seeking musicians, looking for and selling kit, then you will want to use AMW.  AMW is our musical exchange/classified section.  By section there will be hardware sales, hardware seeking, positions vacant and like minded hook up.  And before you ask no we won’t be setting up a dating service, not even for nerdy bassists find your own damn BF/GF.

So who are we interested in hearing from...

Musicians both solo and in bands, music students, sound engineering students, media studies students, aspiring radio and music DJ’s, photographers and videoers (what is your collective noun), managers, promoters, designers, leafleters.  Look anyone that is interested and think they have something to offer and something to gain by getting involved.

Structure

Access Music...

...is to be split into several small discrete parts. In truth these splits are purely to allow easy tracking of costs and are therefore purely administrative splits.

Access Music Live...

...will manage and run events whether a small regular gig at our own site or a larger out door event it will ran and costed through Live.

Access Music Management...

...will work with artists and bands to find them work (gigs) and promote their artistic output both music and video to a wider audience.

Access Music Recording...

...deal with both the in-house and out-house recording operations that is the mobile and fixed situation recording studios.

Access Music Media...

...will produce all tangible products from the printed word to websites right through to artwork and CDs. Design and development will sit firmly within the Media remit.

Access Music Foundation...

...is the controlling committee of Access Music; it is both the management and the trustee committee. The foundation will also in the event of a surplus of monies deal with distributing to other worthy causes or setting up extensions to the Access Music family.
